Picture this: Chaska Minnesota. University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Sunday in October. 75 degrees. Sun is shining. Can you picture it? I have had the pleasure of watching this young man grow up over the last decade and I cannot believe he is about to graduate! Time flies when our babies are young, we blink and they are taller than us and heading out to forge lives of their own. For his senior photography session, we headed to the Gold Medal Park area of downtown Minneapolis and it was the perfect spot to capture his personally, and also snag a few family photos.

Extended family sessions = the best! I have always had a sweet spot for family photography sessions that give us the opportunity to capture multiple generations in one session. From the traditional, posed images to the cousins goofing off images, they are all pure family gold.

I know, I know… everyone wants the perfect fall family photography session with golden leaves and crisp air. But autumn in Minnesota is a fickle lady and we haven’t had the gorgeous golden colors in over three years now. We hopefully will this fall, since fall leaf color is directly tied to summer rainfall, and Lord knows we’ve had a lot of rain this summer, but still – I really really recommend doing your family photos in the summer, even if it’s just once.
